New Podcast: Attacks of Shame & Condemnation

This episode of the Innocence Redeemed podcast is a repost of ‘Shame/Condemnation Attacks’ where I was a guest on Just Praise Him Radio with Glynda Lomax of Just Praise Him Today and our mutual brother in Christ, Tom Bixler.  In this episode we discuss how that, recently many of us have been coming under attacks of shame, condemnation and even a type of hopelessness. Here, we discuss those attacks, where they come from, and ways we have discovered to defeat them.

Verses referenced in this podcast;

Genesis 3:10-11 (KJV)

10 And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.

11 And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?

Luke 21:35-36 (KJV)

10 And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.

11 And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?

Proverbs 14:12 (KJV)

12 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

Psalm 91:5-6 (KJV)

Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;

Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.

1 Peter 4:15-16, 19 (NLT)

15 If you suffer, however, it must not be for murder, stealing, making trouble, or prying into other people’s affairs.

16 But it is no shame to suffer for being a Christian. Praise God for the privilege of being called by his name!

19 So if you are suffering in a manner that pleases God, keep on doing what is right, and trust your lives to the God who created you, for he will never fail you.

1 Peter 3:17 (NLT)

17 Remember, it is better to suffer for doing good, if that is what God wants, than to suffer for doing wrong!

Hebrews 8:12 (NLT)

12 And I will forgive their wickedness, and I will never again remember their sins.”

Psalm 32:3-5 (NLT)

When I refused to confess my sin, my body wasted away, and I groaned all day long.

Day and night your hand of discipline was heavy on me. My strength evaporated like water in the summer heat.

Finally, I confessed all my sins to you and stopped trying to hide my guilt. I said to myself, “I will confess my rebellion to the Lord.” And you forgave me! All my guilt is gone.

Romans 8:1 (KJV)

There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

Luke 5:27-32 (NLT)

27 And after these things he went forth, and saw a publican, named Levi, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he said unto him, Follow me.

28 And he left all, rose up, and followed him.

29 And Levi made him a great feast in his own house: and there was a great company of publicans and of others that sat down with them.

30 But their scribes and Pharisees murmured against his disciples, saying, Why do ye eat and drink with publicans and sinners?

31 And Jesus answering said unto them, They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick.

32 I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

Colossians 2:20-23 (NLT)

20 You have died with Christ, and he has set you free from the spiritual powers of this world. So why do you keep on following the rules of the world, such as,

21 “Don’t handle! Don’t taste! Don’t touch!”?

22 Such rules are mere human teachings about things that deteriorate as we use them.

23 These rules may seem wise because they require strong devotion, pious self-denial, and severe bodily discipline. But they provide no help in conquering a person’s evil desires.

Colossians 3:5-7 (NLT)

So put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within you. Have nothing to do with sexual immorality, impurity, lust, and evil desires. Don’t be greedy, for a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world.

Because of these sins, the anger of God is coming.

You used to do these things when your life was still part of this world.

1 Corinthians 6:9-11 (NLT)

Don’t you realize that those who do wrong will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Don’t fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, or who worship idols, or commit adultery, or are male prostitutes, or practice homosexuality, 10 or are thieves, or greedy people, or drunkards, or are abusive, or cheat people—none of these will inherit the Kingdom of God. 11 Some of you were once like that. But you were cleansed; you were made holy; you were made right with God by calling on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

  1. Thank you, brother, for posting this here. It was an honor and a pleasure to work with you and Glynda. ?

  2. I finally had a chance to listen to this tonight. Ray knows I’ve had a bad several days of attacks! Wow! Jesus is Lord! This spoke to me this evening. Thank you Ray for interceding when I ask for prayer. My spirit was well aware of the prayers. The enemy tried throwing garbage from 30+ years ago back on me! I felt weak at times. But, I know the Word, and recognized the attack. Pushing thru, fighting to keep my flesh down, and praying in the Spirit! I shared a dream with Ray I had, and as I was searching for the meaning, I came across a C.H. Spurgeon devotional that was right on. Not just for what I had been going thru, but what we, as Christian’s are beginning to see. We can’t stay apathetic anymore! Recognize the enemy, rebuke him and he shall flee! We serve an AWESOME GOD! Psalm 22

    1. Amen! Thank you for your comment Karen. Yes, the attacks have been heightened lately which is all the more reason we need to stay in prayer and in the Lord’s Word so we may have on the proper armor of God! Hang in there, you will get through!
