New Podcast: When They Won’t Listen

Just a quick yet practical tutorial to follow when those who you seek to witness to won’t listen continuously and you feel like your banging your head on the wall.  What is also the proper response with those who don’t understand the meaning of fellowship?  I have been witness to several examples of this recently and have heard from others dealing with the same scenario. The answer is actually quite simple.

 

 

 

 


 

 

1 Corinthians 1:10-12 (KJV)

  1. Thank you, Ray, for not sugar coating what needs to be said directly. This is not a time to be delicate and deferential, but rather, to be direct and not to mince words. “Planet Pop Tart” indeed! I’m going to use that! Yes, this is still planet Earth, but some days it seems surreal. And we know, that mythical land called “Pop Tart” is not only not a good vacation destination, but a poor nutritional plan. Silly places full of sugary pastry will not provide us with the fighting power to sustain, maintain, and rebuke the kingdom of darkness. We all need serious spiritual protein and vitamins at this time.

    You have listeners who respect deeply what you have to say. But I believe much of the silence (especially in this instance where you have spoken with particular directness), comes from fellow brothers and sisters not wanting to veer off into, or descend into, bitterness or the appearance of bitterness. Posting a comment on a blog, especially in response to a strong and well-spoken word, can be unforgiving. I will add that much of what many of us have gone through the past couple of years has been unsavory and upsetting in the extreme, and has challenged us in our walks. I will at least speak for myself. Thus, I’m endeavoring to become better – – not bitter. It has been a painful journey, but I’ve been getting back grades on some pop quizzes and exams lately, and I’m happy to say my “spiritual GPA” has been improving. Praise God! πŸ™‚

    None of us is perfect, of course, but even those who are extremely strong in doing what ought to be done, while maintaining righteousness in their walk, can be convicted in their hearts about what you’ve said. And then they can go on to forgive even more, be merciful perhaps more than ever, be cool and reasonable and respectful about it, yet maintain the passion of their faith by never allowing their Christian standards to be compromised. Thus, that’s excellent advice you gave about shaking the dust off and moving on…in certain strife-filled cases.

    A long-time friend of mine has some very succinct advice that really works when it comes to confronting satan’s nasty schemes. In essence, before you go go battle (and as you enter into it): “Don’t panic; don’t choke.” And an old anonymous one I’m fond of is: “Never let ’em (the enemy) see you sweat.” That one might actually have been part of an ad campaign and television commercial for a certain anti-perspirant product, which if you think about it, is very appropriate to have in mind here at the end of a very warm July in the northern hemisphere where it’s high summer. πŸ™‚
