Please Consider Giving to Someone In Need

My good friend and dear Sister in Christ, Angie, is in need for support where it comes to an unfortunate situation concerning her son.  This fundraiser has been up for a while, and frankly there is no reason the goal should not have been met long ago.  If 100 people saw this and even gave $50 a piece, this would have met the goal long ago.  I find it a shame given her goal, that it has not yet been met, but other fundraisers for people to buy material possessions have been fulfilled, or causes to promote social justice causes or insipid idiotic things such as glue being stuck to a wig are being met to hire a lawyer to sue the glue company.

I have long had a gripe with the way GoFundMe promotes insignificant needs over the needs of those who really need help (i.e. those who have been in terrible accidents and are facing foreclosure, medical ailments, can barely put food on the table, etc…etc..).   Angie’s plight is as follows;

Hi my name is Angie and I am starting this gofundme for my son Jim Gaines. Please help him! Please don’t let him be homeless for a crime he didn’t commit.

Not quite two years ago, my son, who suffers from an anxiety disorder and extreme daytime sleepiness (so it takes him a while to wake up), received a visit from his local police department saying they were there to offer help to someone. The fear of having guns drawn on him and not being fully awake when he got the knock on the door caused him to ramble on. He knew he hadn’t done anything to warrant the over reach of police force but because of his anxiety disorder and sleep deprivation ramblings he is now charged for a crime he did not commit.

From the beginning, my son cooperated fully with the search of his home and other possessions. He fully answered the investigator’s questions and since they didn’t find anything, no arrest was made. Before the officers left, they confiscated some personal items and informed him the rest of the investigation would take no more than three to six months and if they still couldn’t find anything he would receive a call to pick up his things. That was almost two years ago and they still haven’t found anything. This prolonged process has caused my son extreme undue hardship.

Due to the nature of the charges my son was suspended from work without pay. Finances were not a problem at the time because he had just sold his home. The money he made off of the sale of his home and his unemployment benefits was enough to last him until he was either reinstated at work or found another job. My son tried really hard to hold it all together these last two years but he now needs your help.

The monies from my son’s home were spent trying to stay afloat over these past two years and his unemployment benefits have since run out. The pandemic further intensified his hardship. Not being able to find a new job nor being able to keep his old one has put my son on the verge of becoming homeless not to mention his stressed induced health issues or outrageous legal fees for something that was totally unanticipated and unwarranted.

My son needs help with his medical bills that now total over three thousand for his leg that he is still having problems with and still needs meds for. Though my son’s leg looks better than what I posted. I just wanted you to see what hopelessness, depression and an anxiety disorder can cause. He almost lost his leg.

My son needs help with other medications and to be protected from the elements. Once you are on the streets, it becomes extremely hard to move upwards from there.

PLEASE DON’T LET MY SON END UP ON THE STREETS.

PLEASE HELP HIM!

PLEASE PRAY FOR HIM!

Please help him get back up on his feet.

My friends and followers of Innocence Redeemed, if you are able to donate to Sister Angie’s cause, please consider doing so.  Please don’t be one of those who say ‘God Bless you!’ and send the person in need on their way if you can assist.  Remember that the Lord does test us to see who gives when they are capable and those who do not.  I post this here today because having been in need in my past, especially when I was in the wilderness, I know I would want it done for me if I were in the same boat.

Please consider giving here.

To those who already have given, thank you and may the Lord bless you in return.  Every little bit makes a difference.

2 Corinthians 8:9-15 (NLT)

You know the generous grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that by his poverty he could make you rich.

10 Here is my advice: It would be good for you to finish what you started a year ago. Last year you were the first who wanted to give, and you were the first to begin doing it. 11 Now you should finish what you started. Let the eagerness you showed in the beginning be matched now by your giving. Give in proportion to what you have. 12 Whatever you give is acceptable if you give it eagerly. And give according to what you have, not what you don’t have. 13 Of course, I don’t mean your giving should make life easy for others and hard for yourselves. I only mean that there should be some equality. 14 Right now you have plenty and can help those who are in need. Later, they will have plenty and can share with you when you need it. In this way, things will be equal.

15 As the Scriptures say,

“Those who gathered a lot had nothing left over,
and those who gathered only a little had enough.

James 2:14-20 (NLT)

14 What good is it, dear brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but don’t show it by your actions? Can that kind of faith save anyone? 15 Suppose you see a brother or sister who has no food or clothing, 16 and you say, “Good-bye and have a good day; stay warm and eat well”—but then you don’t give that person any food or clothing. What good does that do?

17 So you see, faith by itself isn’t enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead and useless.

18 Now someone may argue, “Some people have faith; others have good deeds.” But I say, “How can you show me your faith if you don’t have good deeds? I will show you my faith by my good deeds.”

19 You say you have faith, for you believe that there is one God.  Good for you! Even the demons believe this, and they tremble in terror. 20 How foolish! Can’t you see that faith without good deeds is useless?

Malachi 3:8-12 (NLT)

“Should people cheat God? Yet you have cheated me!

“But you ask, ‘What do you mean? When did we ever cheat you?’

“You have cheated me of the tithes and offerings due to me.

You are under a curse, for your whole nation has been cheating me. 10 Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple. If you do,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, “I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won’t have enough room to take it in! Try it! Put me to the test! 11 Your crops will be abundant, for I will guard them from insects and disease. Your grapes will not fall from the vine before they are ripe,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. 12 “Then all nations will call you blessed, for your land will be such a delight,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.

Ephesians 3:20 (NLT)

20 Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.

Matthew 7:12 (NLT)

12 “Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you. This is the essence of all that is taught in the law and the prophets.

Matthew 25:34-40 (NLT)

34 “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home. 36 I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me.’

37 “Then these righteous ones will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you? Or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 Or a stranger and show you hospitality? Or naked and give you clothing? 39 When did we ever see you sick or in prison and visit you?’

40 “And the King will say, ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!’

Psalm 41:1 (NLT)

Oh, the joys of those who are kind to the poor!
The Lord rescues them when they are in trouble.

  1. May you be blessed, brother, for sharing Angie’s story here. And may she and her son in turn be mightily blessed.

    1. Thank you brother for coming over and supporting this ministry and Angie’s cause. I had really hoped that goal would have been met by now and I am thankful to those who did heed the calling to give, but honestly I’m a little dismayed that the goal hasn’t been reached yet. I can only pray that, over time, the Lord will send those who will lift up and support Sister Angie so she and her son can find a closing to this ridiculousness taking place. God Bless you Tom.
