Help Those Less Fortunate In Times of Need – February 16, 2021

I have been spending the last few days scanning through several newscasts in various Texas cities.  Everywhere from Austin to Dallas, from San Antonio to Waco and before this evening is out, I may even check out a streaming newscast from Oklahoma City.  These people are not only freezing in the dark, they are without contact in certain cases and some are even without food as supplies at local super markets are disappearing in rapid succession.  I am appalled that, in this situation, there is not more attention to these factors on a national level.  We can debate all day whether the gas and power outages (and now also communications) is an exposure of the failure of what would be the  ‘green new deal’ and the exposure of current failed policy, if you will.

I believe firmly God has his hand on this as a means to expose the corruption and energy policies that caused this situation at hand.  It has been revealed to me in my spirit that an exposure will come out of this.  Texas for decades was energy independent and had more than enough and has closed many electric generating plants in favor of ‘clean energy’ which has failed in the ways of iced up solar panels that don’t work in cloudy conditions and frozen windmills.  On top of this, these energy companies are now raising rates all the while not being able to supply that energy to four-million people?  Are you kidding me?  This is greed, pure and simple.

*2/19/2021 -UPDATE TO MY STATEMENT ABOVE THIS WAS ABOUT GREED.  THE ONLY THING I EVER SEEM TO GET WRONG IS THE TIMING OR HOW BAD IT WILL BECOME:

The news reports call these ‘rolling black-outs’ but some people have been without electricity for almost two days -THAT is NOT a rolling blackout -it is a grid failure and in some cases I suspect a deliberate shut-down.  Despite this, several people are without enough clothing to stay warm or enough food to eat.  Supermarkets are running out of goods -people are standing in line, in the cold for hours, to find what they came to get is out of stock.  Even the warming centers are now losing electricity and low on supplies.  You see all of this on top of those already in straits due to Covid-19 crippling local economies everywhere and the resulting food lines.  As I write this, there are even rumors of people needing to boil water and also that water may be in short supply and is to be restricted.  In some areas the water has been shut off due to pipes bursting.

*UPDATE: The amount of power outages is decreasing and now under 200K BUT now come the horrors of food/fuel/water shortages.

Earlier tonight I saw the Governor of Texas appearing as a guest on Sean Hannity.  This interview can be seen here.   Needless to say, in my observation there are too many questions un-answered here.

I digress; There are no clear answers from anyone in government at neither the federal or state levels as to the true ‘help’ they are sending (isn’t it ironic we are to ‘trust them’) and many people being interviewed on these newscasts are feeling like they are forgotten and nobody cares. Many feel like they have been left to die.  Now if that doesn’t break your heart, I don’t know what can.  I know what desperation feels like and this is quickly becoming a humanitarian crisis;

Is Texas Facing A Humanitarian Crisis?

I would highly recommend checking out some of the local coverage.  If you have a streaming box connected to your television such as the Android TV, Apple TV or a Roku, I highly recommend the ‘NewsOn’ app which is linking to local coverage from all the effected areas.  You can also get it for your smartphone in the app store if interested but for computer reading/watching, here are the main channels I have been following (each one has a watch live watch link or has articles with videos);

KSAT – ABC 12 – San Antonio, TX

WFAA – ABC 8 – Dallas, TX

KEYE – CBS 10 – Austin, TX

KWTX – CBS 10 – Waco, TX

KOCO – ABC 5 – Oklahoma City, OK

KSLA – News 12 – Shreveport, LA

KAIT – Region 8 News – Northeastern & North Central, AR

KHOU 11 – Houston, TX

Brothers and sisters, over the last few days, the Lord was giving me verses (shown below) and at first, I could not understand where I was to apply them and then the series of winter-storms hit.  I am not only feeling the indignation and seeing many in lack but outside of this area, I am barely seeing any action being taken to assist.  National news appears to be stuck on what’s taking place in Washington D.C.  So as a result, I felt compelled to write this as to suggest that any of us that can donate to a local food bank or in any case, help in any way we can, to do so.

If one thing was exposed in 2020, it was that while there was a lot of good being done behind the scenes for those in need, there are many out there with the means to help those in less fortunate situations but then not being considerate of others and doing anything.  If you are blessed, still have a job and live in an area that was not affected by these storms, please consider donating to those in need because let me tell you, my heart breaks when I am seeing many of these stories and while yes, we take it to prayer with the Lord, He also gives many of us the means to help where we can.  We are empowered to make a difference, regardless of how small it may appear to be to us.  Every little bit helps and if everyone did even just a little, it would turn into a great blessing to many.  It is important to keep in mind that any assistance sent will be likely held up unless it is a financial transaction just due to the conditions in the region, but a head-start is better than no start.

Though on a limited income myself, I do plan to help in whatever way I am able.  I pray you as my readers will join me.

HEB, a grocery chain in Texas is donating $1 Million and accepting donations to help people and replenish food banks, devastated by this storm.

You can read more about this here.

James 2:13-17 (NLT)

13 There will be no mercy for those who have not shown mercy to others. But if you have been merciful, God will be merciful when he judges you. 14 What good is it, dear brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but don’t show it by your actions? Can that kind of faith save anyone? 15 Suppose you see a brother or sister who has no food or clothing, 16 and you say, “Good-bye and have a good day; stay warm and eat well”—but then you don’t give that person any food or clothing. What good does that do? 17 So you see, faith by itself isn’t enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead and useless.

Luke 6:31-35 (NKJV)

31And just as you want men to do to you, you also do to them likewise.

32“But if you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them.

33And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same.

34And if you lend to those from whom you hope to receive back, what credit is that to you? For even sinners lend to sinners to receive as much back.

35But love your enemies, do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High. For He is kind to the unthankful and evil.

Galatians 6: 2-3, 7-10 (NLT)

2 Share each other’s burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ.

If you think you are too important to help someone, you are only fooling yourself. You are not that important.

Don’t be misled—you cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest what you plant.

8 Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit.

9 So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.

10 Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone—especially to those in the family of faith.

Malachi 3: 8-11 (NKJV)

“Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed Me! But you say, ‘In what way have we robbed You?’ In tithes and offerings. 9 You are cursed with a curse, For you have robbed Me, Even this whole nation. 10 Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be food in My house, And try Me now in this,” Says the Lord of hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing That there will not be room enough to receive it. 11 “And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, So that he will not destroy the fruit of your ground, Nor shall the vine fail to bear fruit for you in the field,” Says the Lord of hosts; 12“And all nations will call you blessed, For you will be a delightful land,” Says the Lord of hosts.

  1. I can attest that problem in Texas is very real. I have a cousin, a very godly woman, whose power went out and was out for days. She lives in Santa Fe, on the Gulf Coast. She has burst pipes and all the food in her refrigerator ruined. She drove for an hour trying to find some place that had hot food during this and went back home to a cold Spam sandwich. She has many health issues and lives on disability. How many others were there, like her?

    1. According to initial reports there were many. This event, as hard as it was, shows everyone why they must take heed to warnings given ahead of time whether they are prophetic as they relate to scripture or in the real world to what they can. On the other hand it also has the ability to bring out much good in those to help others who are struggling through difficult times.

  2. There is a woman, who has a YouTube channel (that I am subscribed to), she has a ministry helping people in need. She asked for help. Holy Spirit led other’s (whom I am also subscribed) to join together; with subscribers; and we were blessed to provide for various food pantries all over Texas, and Mississippi. All glory to God.
