Forgive Me Lord (Confessional for Prayer)

Greetings everyone.  I have created a confessional that I believe may be helpful to some if they are actively trying to repent of sin or are new to their walk and may not understand how to confess sin.  This is actually a good guideline -really for all of us- and a very simple one, to keep us in check and have conviction so that we make sure we remain in remission of sin and confess what we do wrong even if we may not realize we’re doing it or have done it.  I have created a PDF which is available on the resources page that you may download and print but since the PDF download is only in English I am posting a copy here in text for anyone who may want to use the translator.  Blessings everyone!

Forgive me Lord…

Brethren, the purpose of these confessionals are to bring to light the sins we have committed or commit without realization we’re even doing it.  I have talked about repentance many times here at Innocence Redeemed but how can one repent if they don’t understand what they’re doing wrong?  We may not commit these sins every day, but many of us have at one time or another even if we didn’t realize we did.  The purpose of confessing our sins is to not just show us what’s wrong, but to bring about conviction for our wrong behaviors so that we are consciously aware of what is displeasing to the Lord.  If we are in a habit of confessing what we do wrong and aware of what is displeasing to the Lord then it brings about change in being obedient to His commands which then leads us to remission and repentance of the sins. It is to keep us from getting into wrong habits which are then harder to break, blinds us to God’s truth and leads to a downward spiral of spiritual (and sometimes physical) death.  It is to lead us in the right direction in Christ Jesus.  The grace of the Lord is to give us time to get right with Him, that which is wrong in our lives and causing us to make a willful effort to change in our reverence to Him.  This list is not conclusive, but rather a starting point in assisting those who may not understand how to go about confessing sins which we should be making a daily part of our prayer regimen.  We are not perfect and that is why we seek forgiveness from our deliverer and our savior, Jesus.

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. -1 John 1:9-10

For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.  -Hebrews 10:26-27
